Default timing ends up at 12 deg. advance

Got 02 4.3 RS2 just got done putting heads on it. Shows im at 12-14 degrees advance. Seems to have a slight spark knock and a bit lazy. Anyone have experience with this problem.

Did you set the CMP Retard to zero after installing the distributor (details in the Tech Article section)?

Right on I just read it. Didn't think that bracket was sloppy enough to get 15 degrees but will have try that first. Dont have scanner that smart. Or do you disagree with that line of thought.

You'll need a scan tool to accurately set the CMP Retard to zero. The only other way is to trial and error it until its running better. Even then, you'll want to get it on a capable scan tool to get it as close to zero as possible as premature cam & distributor wear can occur with prolonged run time off zero.
