Default Tranny' is goin..

Well back when we bought the 95 blazer in 04', boy was she running fine, great get-up-and-go, car was very nice (overdrive and such).. Ok.. So in the past year.. we've noticed the car is losing power.. now we know it's not the engine because when we go into overdrive (lets say on the highway we're doing 55mph and we're about to pass another car) the RPMs will go up (you can hear it) but the car isn't moving, it will go faster, but sluggishly, now the funny part is.. it has a mind of its own.. it'll work fine when the car is cold, but once we're atleast a mile away from our house, it'll just start with the sluggish action.. I tried searching here to see if anyone had this problem on a 95 blazer.. but no luck.. and my pop stopped working in the garage for a while now (since 2001), so he wouldn't have time/resources/space to do it himself.. Does anyone know any shop in NY or a company that specializes in fixing or replacing Trannys for a 95 Blazer 2DR?? I mean, in 11 months the car will be going to me, and i certainly don't want it breaking down on me (lol).. Any help/resources/comments will be more then fine, thanks guys (and gals)!

Default RE: Tranny' is goin..

I dont know of any shops in your area. However your tranny is pretty common and any decent shop can rebuild it better then stock.

Another great alternative is the dealer. Call them and get a price qoute, go shopping. The dealers have good prices and great warrenties compared to others.

you can save a chunk of coin by taking hte tranny out and reinstaling it yourself. Check the "How-To" section for a write up on how to remove the tranny. If its something you feel comforatble, go for it.
