Default Tranny Issues

Hello! I am new here and need some help. I just purchased a 92 s10 blazer for $500. 4.3 TBI. Speedometer and odometer do not work, but my real problem is no second gear. The vehicle has to get to a certain speed and will shift from 1 to 3 and then OD. Manual shifting does not do a thing for second gear. Oh! it's a 4L60E. Could it be a computer problem? or shift solenoid? or maybe the VSS? I dropped the pan and did a filter and fluid change for the hell of it but no change. Fluid looked muddy but no metal on the magnet. HELP!

A VSS problem typically will lock the transmission in 1st so the fact that it has 3rd & 4th is somewhat baffling unless the early system handled things differently.

You can test the VSS much like any other speed sensor. It should produce >250mV-AC when the rear driveshaft is spun. If that checks out ok, then you need to start working your way back to the DRAC module, testing the wiring from the sensor to the DRAC first.

Default Thanks swartllk

Thanks, I will test the VSS. I also tried the "paper clip" method and could pull no codes...
