Trans Linkage Issue
I just recently bought an 85 s10 blazer that has already been converted into a V8 with a 700r4 tranny.. The main problem is no matter what gear I shift the lever into the trans stays into what seems to be neutral. No matter what gear it will roll freely. Any suggestions I will gladly accept.
Have you checked the trans oil level and have you checked that the shifter shaft on the trans actually moves when you move the shift lever inside the truck.
If these are both ok, then it's possible something has come loose inside the transmission and you'll probably have to remove the pan to have a look.

The fluid is fine but thats as far as I have gotten so far.. I just bought it a few days ago and its been raining everyday since so no real chance to get underneath it. I was just trying to get a few starting points. Thanks
I will check that tomorrow. I am located in Georgia. That is just the first problem I have come across. I am expecting a few more but I knew it was a project the price was right and I have always wanted a V8 conversion s10 blazer so I couldn't pass it up
Cool post up some pics sometime. Were you able to test drive it, or was it purchased with some work needed? Are you familar with the 700r4 trans? Hopefully the TV cable is setup properly.
I wasn't able to test drive it, 2 flats and no spares but I knew it needed some work. I heard the engine run and that sold me on it. Very good running so its worth the work.. I will post pics tomorrow just kinda hard to take them in the rain lol. I know nothing about the tv cable never messed with a 700r4. Any tips for me?
Was it being driven before? The TV cable is very important in these trans. It lets the trans know when to shift/down shift etc. It controls a valve in the trans to regulate pressure. I don't know too much either, but the TV cable is quite important. Maybe do a search about them. v8s10.org is also a good site for v8 trucks.
