I did check the tv cable and it wasn't even connected to the carb. I have to buy the kiickdown cable bracket which isn't too bad. Also as far as the trans goes, I will find out about the linkage tomorrow although the inside shifter does shift the trans, it needs to be modified a little bit because it won't shift the trans into park. So the might have been my problem right there. I am going to look at that a little more soon.

Well today I got it started up and uncovered another issue. Not a big one but I need to replace the transmission pan gasket. It poors fluid out while running. Not too bad though. Other than that I need to adjust the linkage so it will go into park, get the tv cable bracket and set it up and adjust the carb and it should be good to go. I am hoping anyway

sounds like your well on your way.
make sure you get the RIGHT bracket for that tv cable. Its not a kickdown cable in a 700R4, its a tv cable. The kickdown cable is used in the TH350 tranny. There is a difference, a huge difference. That bracket needs to be for your engine tranny combo, GM should have them in stock, or check with your local autoparts store. Specify V8 to 700R4. Dont specify 4.3 to 700R4, there is a difference. That cable travels a set distance to move a valve in teh tranny. That valve controls the shift points of your tranny, if its not set right, you will fry your tranny.

As for the tranny pan gasket, do not use any gasket sealer on it. clean the pan and tranny surface with brake cleaner, do not use a rag. It only takes a piece of grit the size of a grian of salt to stick a valve in the tranny, then your looking at taking out the valve body and another red shower. Speaking of red shouwers, do yourself a favor and buy a drain plug or a pan with a drain plug in ti. Then once per year, drain the pan, and top off with 4-5 quarts of new tranny fluid. That's all the regular maintenance the tranny needs.
