Default Trans Out Again

Whats up guys, havent been on here in a long time, but im having problems.

I replacd my trans last year with a brand new one, drove the truck for about a month, then it got parked because i ended up getting another GTP and never really drove the blazer. So i finally got the blazer back out for the winter, checked all the fluids, everything looked great, drove it for about a week. Started getting trans problems again. Finally it went out completely.

I pulled the trans, the fluid was BLACK no metal shavings or anything, just burnt fluid. I took the trans back to the place that i bought it from and they are rebuilding it for free.

They told me about a problem with the 96....

They said there was an update with a ground or something that if not done, will keep burning up transmissions. I have no idea what this guy is talking about, but i searched and couldnt find any info on it. So does anyone know what he is talking about? Says a ground for the computer or something or the transmissions will keep getting burnt up.

Seems like if he is a professional transmission repairman he should know exactly what 'ground' he is referring to and if he cannot supply it he should at least know who to refer you to for the repair.

Beginning at the start of production for all 1994 model vehicles equipped with the THM 4L60-E transmission, there was a VCM (Vehicle Control Module) installed on the vehicles with an internal ground wire that connects the two printed circuit boards together. Some vehicles with the VCM will display very erratic and unstable line pressure rise in the transmission, and in some instances, premature failure of the transmission. Bad ground connection from one printed circuit board to the other.
There is now available from OEM parts sources, a new service repair kit with an instruction and is available under OEM part number 12167310.

GM Bulletin Number 66-71-03A
Harness jumper wire and instruction kit P/N 12167310

by the way last i checked the part was $50.13 at the dealer
