trans/transfer mounting bolt holes stripped out..help
i just baught a 1980 chevy and the transfer case is seperated from trans with about a 1/2 inch gap. well come to find out at least 3 of the boltholes are stripped.does enybody have eny idea how much this would run me at a shop, charging like 60 an hour. im not extremly experienced but dont want to spend over like 350$ eny suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreaciated on an estement or if i should try to tackle this myself

I would first try to heli-coil it. You can get the kits at most autoparts stores. Take one of the bolts in with you and have them size it & get the proper kit. You need to remove the transfer case to do this properly.
thanxs for reply man..not trying to flood u with questions,but i have never messed with heli coils is it a fairly simple task or much fabrication involved. Really im just trying to take the smartest/fastest rout becouse this is going to be my daily driver for work, not to mention my only other vehicle is a motorcycle and fall tempratures have made official presents known. lol
