Default Transmission?

Ok so heres the deal, when Im just starting out I get this "thud" that I can feel in the floorboard. Could that be a torque converter or something else in the transmission? Maybe something in the steering components? Im lost and any ideas would help...

Define when you're just starting out... right when you start it up, put it in gear, et cetera

Could it be a torsion bar mount , Mine made a noise similar to what your explaining . Or maybe a broken transmission mount , the torque converter wouldn't make a clunk noise unless some sort of foreign material got in were the dust cover is , then it would probably just make a whining sound like the do when they go bad .
