Default Transmission Cooler Install Write-up 2000 Blazer 4WD

Things you will need

Hayden Transmission Cooler kit #677 (Medium duty, there is also a light and heavy duty)
Hayden Coolant line attachment kit #390 (a smaller package)
6 ft length of hose (kit comes with one length of hose you will need another)
2 Bolts, washers, and nuts (or a welder, we went with the welder)
1-2 quarts of Transmission fluid (depending on how messy you are)
Average everyday tools

We found all of the parts we needed at the local Checker Auto Parts, I also know that Pep Boys stocks Hayden parts as well.

Step one: Make sure thevehicle is cooled down some if it has been driven recently
Step two: Remove the grill, it is just held in by clips and just pulls right out (at least mine did)
Step three: Remove plastic panel that covers oil filter (remote filter) *see pic*

Step four: Squeeze hoses over connections on tranny cooler (we put a little lubricant on the connections to ease this along). Then Squeeze hoses over the connectors from kit #390 (also lubricated these) the hose from the kit should go on fairly easy the store bought one (at least for us) was very hard to get on.

Step five: Decide where you want your tranny cooler (we decided the front pillar) if you use the front pillar you will either need to drill holes and put bolts in (suggest 2) or weld it on (which is what we did)*see pic* DO NOT SECURE TRANNYCOOLER TILL THE END!!! Tranny cooler will not rub grill, if done correctly should have about 1/2 inch to spare.

Step six:Undotranny line to lower transmission.Wind hoses through various openings to get them to the(bottom of the)radiator. *see pics* (Pics go in order from transmission cooler to radiator)

Unfortuately Ido nothave decent pics of the final connection to the original tranny line or to the lower radiator (really tight area in there).

So start up your truck make sure there are no leaks, then go ahead and connect the tranny cooler to the pillar or where ever you have decided to put it. Next remember to put on the cover for your oil filter and your grill. Then top off any tranny fluid you may have lost and account for the added tranny cooler. (Took quite a bit less that a quart for me, less than 1/2 a quart if I remember correctly)

If you are unsure if the fluid is going through your new tranny cooler, after the vehicle has been running for a while go out and test the tranny cooler to see if it is getting warm (possibly hot).

Disclaimer-how you test the tranny cooler for heat is up to you, I touched it but for some those results could hurt. Hence know your reflexes well before attempting to touch.
