Default Transmission Issue

98 Blazer ZR2 134k, Transmission has been acting up latley. When comming from a stop with partial throttle everything is ok and works good, but any acceleration < 25% from a dead stop, the truck seems like its slipping when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, like it will act like its kicking down to neutral (or taking time trying to find the Gear) for a second then shifts to 2nd. I got the truck in august and havent had time to change the fluid yet. its a little overfull I was told that changing the fluid wont fix the problem. What do you think it could be? im thinking a sticking valve or a band is not applying. What do you think? Time for a rebuild or do you think that a fluid change will do it? Thanks

99.9% of the time replacing fluid will not fix a tranny problem.

Overfull isnt a major concern, there is a vent tube on top of the tranny behind the ballhousing, when the fluied gets hot it will puke out that tube.

pull your dip stick and smell it, does it smell burnt, is it dark in color, if so, time for a rebuild.

Do you ahve an engine performance issues? The puter makes the tranny perform based on engine performance. If the engine is struggling the puter will adjust the tranny accordingly. Most think they have a tranny problem, when in reality they have an engine problem.

Fluid is not burnt, Bright Red in color, Absolutley no engine problems. intake gasket was done in august and recently replaced the gas tank because it was leaking, once new tank was installed I reset the fuel trim. That was about a month and a half ago this problem has only been around for about two weeks. I only drive it on the weekends because im at school and go home on the weekend.
