Transmission jerks from reverse to drive
I just got a 96 blazer with 134k miles on it. when i put it in drive it seems like there is a pause before it goes into gear. Today i had to put it into drive fast and get out the way of a vehicle, the blazer paused when i gave it gas and then caught and barked the tires, felt like i had been hit in the back of the blazer. I was wondering if it might just need the tranny fluid and filter changed or what. I had a vehicle in the past to act like that, it was fixed after the fluid change. Also i dont know if its related but sometimes when i put it into reverse it acts like the brakes are being pressed and i feel a vibration toward the rear.
No. I changed the fluid and filter last night it needed it anyway, i was hopeing that it would have fixed the issue. But it still seems to take a second to go into gear. The fluid is at the right level.
I hope its not going out. I let a friend of mine ride with me today. I showed him what i thought it was doing. He just told me that is normal for an suv, and that i was just used to driving sports cars. he did think my u joints where clanking. It seems to drive fine as long a i dont get on it as soon as i put it into gear. i think i know some other people that have a blazer around the same model as mine. Im going to ask to drive theirs and see if i notice a difference. It may just be in my head.
