Angry Transmission leaks after swap

Hi we spent the last 3 days swaping out a PITA 2wd tranny in a 98 blazer. We replaced the front seal got it all togather and started it and it was slipping cause it didnt have enough fuild so we filled it up and it went foward and backwards then all sundden a steady drip of fuild comes from \
the bellhouseing and where like What The F**k we replaced the GD seal so it would'nt leak and now its leaking First it strated off leaking fast and now its like a slow drip leak and i dont see how it could be leaking with a new seal so do u guys think maybe we over filled the fuilds? cause we used a gallon and a half gallon of fluid and also we dont know if we got the cooler lines in the right spots could this be the problem? Any ideas thanks

Did you lube the seal lip before installing the converter? Was it a used transmission?

Hell no didnt know i had to till after words friend said i should had greesed the seal spring to keep it in place. And i got to use something same roundness as the seal to tap it in evenly. Looks like where going to have to pull it again and redo it. I wish now that i would had just left the old seal in it it was a used transmission yeah

Always lubricate the seal.

Take a bellhousing bolt to the hardware store and buy 4 more 6" long.
When you remove the 4 lower belllhousing to engine bolts, replace them with the longer ones you jsut bought. Remove the top two bolts, cooling lines, rear driveshaft, shift linkage, and unbolt the torque converter from the flexplate. Now slide the tranny back as far as you can on the new bolts. This way you dont have to drop it out of the truck. Slide the torque converter out and remove the old seal. When you install the new one, use a socket about the size of the outer seal lip, metal part, and gentle tap it into place. Lube it, and put it all back together again.
