transmission pan HELL!
#1
Been at this a week, and if i haven't broken something already, i will soon out of sheer frustration.
Here's the back story in short:
1993 s-10 blazer Tahoe 4x4 4.6l Vortec
4l60e transmission.
Was getting pcm code 28 and was pointed to check the manifold pressure switch located on the valve body under the tranny pan.
Unfortunately, the pan sits right between the 4x4 cross brace that supports the tranny, and where the exhaust angles from left to right. It was suggested i jack up the tranny for clearance, and can get as far as prying the ears down past the exhaust in the front to get that side down. However, one of the accumulator on the valve body protrudes down, holding the pan between the cross-brace, & the accumulator. even with the tranny jacked up.
Sooo..... the back has to drop first. problem is, the front of the pan can only move so far forward due to the rounded tranny body blocking it. Therefore i still need another 1/4 " of clearance for the back to clear the cross member.
Was thinking of dropping exhaust, but that wont give me any more clearance in the front anyway.
Here's some pics so you get the idea. I'm at my wits end here. and this is just to diagnose!

front of pan

Back of pan

I do not have the tools to break the cross brace bolts, and the exhaust nuts/ bolts are rusted to crap & I'd rather not touch them.
THERE HAS GOT TO BE AN EASIER WAY!
ANYONE?
Thanks in advance!

Drop the cross member. That is how it goes.

Thanks guys. I was trying to avoid it, but I'm out of options. Just gotta dig up a breaker bar now.

Done.......and done thanks

those bolts broke free way easier than i thought

Now all i have to do is check the manifold pressure switch. Is it recommended those be cleaned & replaced, or should i just get a new one?
