Default Transmission Problem???

I recently bought a '97 blazer for my daughter. I had to replace the gasket on the transmission pan and the filter. Now, it seems to be stuck in a high gear when you drive it. I can manually start out in 1st and get good acceleration, but not in Drive. Any suggestions? I don't have alot of exp with transmissions.

what gear does it take off in in D? did you wrestle the pan off too hard and break a shift solenoid in the back of the trans??? usually got to pull the crossmember to get the pan off

Sounds like maybe the filter fell into the pan. Did you get the old seal out that was on the old filter? sometimes they stay in the hole and when you put the new filter in they dont seat all the way.
