Default Transmission question

Hey guys, when I get the money I am gonna put a 383 with 375 hp and 428ft/lbs torque. I know I will at least need a new torque converter, but I was wondering if the 700R4 will hold up to that power, and if it doesn't with transmission would be the best for that. I would even consider putting a manual in and converting it to a manual.

It'll be some time before I get the motor but I need to know how much I need so I know what my price range should be, and so I can start looking around.

Thank You Much!

If i'm not mistaken, i beleive that stock 700r4's are only rated at 400hp and 400 torque, which is pretty close to what u have. If i was going to put very much money, time and effort in the engine i would do the transmission as well. Check out monsterTrans.com . They have heavyduty performance transmissions for around $1,200 that really make a world of difference vs stock. But if its a mud truck or a toy or something, i personally world wait until the tranny that was in it already went out before dropping that much into it.

See, I was thinking getting a new torque converter, I gotta break in the motor anyway so that will take me some time, and then just run the transmission til it dies, but if I have enough money I would buy a new transmission and do it all at once.
