i have a 98 4x4 auto s10 blazer with 203,xxx miles and ive only owned it for 1 year now. when i got the blazer it had 172,xxx miles. ever since ive owned it ive had some tranny issues. after i drive for 30-60 mins depending on the temp outside it will shift very rough from 1st-2nd only. it will not do it any other time only when shifting from 1-2nd gear.

Ive been told it could be a sensor or solenoid. its been awhile since ive looked into it and lately ive had time to try to figure this out. Im hoping its not the tranny its self going bad but im also not sure if it was ever rebuilt or had it been replaced. its been doing this for 1 year now and counting. im afraid to take a long road trip because of the fear of it going out on me. I know there is some codes to be checked but i dont have a scanner so i will have to drop in autozone for a scan. i remember last summer i had it scanned and a transmission code came up but its been so long id forgot what it was.

Does anyone think it could be a easy fix or is my tranny on its last leg?

 

AutoZone's scanner shouldn't be high-tech enough to pick up a tranny code.. last time I checked (I've worked at Advance and NAPA) they only use the basic engine code scanners that give you kaput for info. Mine seems to drag out shifting into 2nd and its got 190k on it but everything is fine otherwise and its not hurting it any.

I came across hard shifting from x gear to y gear on an eagle talon when I was in school for it and it just needed a tranny fluid/filter change. try that and see if it helps.
