Default Transmission slipping????

Hi there, I have a 1998 blazer LT 4x4. When I have been driving for awhile and everything is nicely heated up, the truck stops excelerating. I push on the gas and nothing happens...revs don't go up, tranny doesn't seem to shift. Would this be the tranny slipping? I thought with the tranny slipping that the truck would just rev. I can slam down the gas all the way and it does absolutly nothing. When I start off from a stop, its very very slowly excelerates. The check engine was on, it said it needs a MAF sensor. I had it cleaned and the check engine light hasn't come back on as of yet.

Would anyone know what that is? I really hope its not the tranny. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

It doesn't sound like a slipping transmission. Sounds more like the engine not responding properly.

When was the last time you did a full tune up (plugs, wire, cap, & rotor)? How about cleaning the throttle body and EGR valve (both are detailed in the DIY section)?

You may want to check the operation of the TPS sensor as well. It should have ~0.5V returning to the PCM at idle and ~4.5V at wide open throttle.

Ok, thats what I was thinking but someone checked it for me and said it was the trannys slipping. I haven't done any of that. I just bought her 3 months ago, so I have no idea when any of that was done. Thanks for the idea, great place to start. I am sure it needs it. I am going to try cleaning the throttle body and the egr valve first. Then work on the full tune up. I can do all that myself, couldn't I? I have never tried a tune up before. Is that in the diy section too?

Typically, when the transmission slips, the engine will rev without a corresponding increase in speed.

There are some tips in the DIY section. You can also try a search for "changing+spark+plugs" without the quotes and see what turns up.
