Transmission troubleshoot

I have a very similar issue as "suckyblazer" It is like first gear is gone but I can put it into first manually. I had it coded and it brought up trans solenoid a couple times. I am hopeing someone here has delt with this and if just changing out the solenoid can solve this or is the trans shot? How hard is the solenoid to change cause while I am in there I was going to change the filter as well. Anyone with info I would greatly appreciate it.

Solenoids are fairly easy to change.
Here are the two main shift solenoid A trouble codes:
P0751 - Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off
P0753 - Shift Solenoid A Electrical
