Default Transmission whine?

Hello,

My 2001 Chevy Blazer with Auto Transmission and 145,000 miles, started making a whining noise a couple months ago. It only does it in drive and reverse. It makes the noise while driving and sitting still. The whining noise gets louder with RPM increasing then will get quiet again after it shifts gears. It makes the noise in all forward gears. Whenever the vehicle is in neutral or park the whining immediately goes away and does not come back when I rev it up. The transmission shifts fine with no problems. I've changed the trans fluid and filter recently and it still makes the whining noise. The fluid level is fine. Any advice you guys could give would be great. Thanks

mine started January 2010 at (134,000 miles) the whining noise was the front pump in the tranny. about the same noise as what you are describing it lasted until April of 2010. the book said it takes 10 hours to change. we did in 6 hours over two night but we took a short cut.

$1400 for certified re-manufactured transmission & new converter
they suck to change

Default thanks for the reply

thanks for the reply dano,

Did yours just finally go out or did you just get tired of it and repair it in April? I want to try and get as many miles as I can out of this tranny before it has to be rebuilt.
