Default Water Pump

I've been loosing coolant for the past couple of days and I finally found out where its going.. The backing plate on the water pump is leaking ?? The parts store sells the gasket for it but is there another issue or is this common?
2000 blazer LT 4wd 4 button (That doesn't work neither)

Just go ahead and replace the pump. It's cheap, easy, and probably needs to be done. It's best to use A/C Delco parts. And be sure to torque those bolts properly. This isn't something you want to do twice.

^ I'm with him. Replace it while you're in there. The pump won't cost you too much at all, and the gaskets are usually included with a new pump. Use thread sealer on the bolts , and torque to spec like greenblazer said.

does it have a warranty? I went through 3 in less than a year. Good thing I had warranty coverage.

So AC-Delco is the brand to use for waterpumps? I'm thinking of replacing my original one when I a full coolant flush and replacement later this spring.

I went with whatever the store brand was at Advance Auto Parts since it was cheap and offered a lifetime warranty. The first two lasted a few months each. I'm on #3. Warranty or not, I didn't appreciate having to do the job repeatedly. Wish I had just gone with OEM parts to begin with. Terrible waste of time. So yeah, stick with A/C Delco.

I've been lucky. Got an autozone cheapy water pump about six years ago, still going strong. I even replaced the gasket on the back cover when i was pulling my hair out trying to track down an overheating problem. Thought maybe the impeller had broken or something.
