Well I e been off of the Blazer for a while, fixing my Dakota, and boat. Got the heli coil in the starter. Got the BFX scanner with dash commander. I'm probably gonna need a bit of tutoring on using this scanner though. Trying to learn it on my own has really frustrated me. As has this truck.
I dont intend to take over this thread from Tom A and Christine, but with their permission I will help with the Dash Command in reading Cam Sensor retard.
After installing the app did you buy the enhanced PIDs for your particular vehicle? This is done by choosing account in the right lower corner of the app.
Then enter a new vehicle using the "vehicle" button, connect to the vehicle computer, and validate the PIDs.
After this, you should be able to add cam sensor retard into the "data grid" and display it.
Dash Command has a half-decent user manual under "settings"
Here's the data grid on my phone as I have it configured, without being hooked up to the vehicle. Note cmp retard. Enhanced PIDs for Blazers all start with GM.

. I have never messed with the cam retard. I'd defer to Les' suggestion as something.to try.

Sounded like you and Tom A and the OP were all talking about cam sensor retard. I'm just here to help facilitate reading of this value with Dash Command (since I was the one that suggested this software and the OP voiced frustration with it).
Connect to vehicle and display Data Grid. Press the + and then press add PIDs. Find the CMP Retard PID and select it. It will be added to your data grid.
If you cant find the CMP Retard PID when connected to the vehicle, did you buy the GM enhanced PIDs from within the app after installing it? When you try to add a PID to your data grid, are there any that start with GM? Did you make a "vehicle" in your app and then select it?
You dont have to be connected to the vehicle to buy the GM PIDs, that can be done wherever WIFI is available.
