Default what transmission do I have?!?!?!

I have a 1993 s10 blazer with a vortec 4.3/auto

I was at the parts store a few minutes ago ordering a tranny pan gasket/filter.

2 options came up,

the 4L6OE (i get the numbers mixed up, so please forgive my ignorance)

and the 700r-4.

The difference being that the 700r-4 has 16 bolts on the pan, and the 4L6OE has a shallow pan.

We compared gaskets, and they are identical. How do I figure out what tranny I have? I didn't even know that a 700r-4 was an option for these things.....

HELP ME PLEASE

I dont know if this helps but

I got my tranny flushed and serviced recently, there was two options for the filter when I went to get it, one was slightly thinner than the other

But it turned out I needed the deeper filter, so i ended up paying for two filters... arg!
anyways my trucks 10 years after yours is so this probably doesn't help at all haha

I believe 1993 was the first year for the 4L60E.

I know there is a code on the inside glove box for what tranny it has, but I don't know what the code is or should be........

An easy way to tell is to look at your throttle body. The 700R4 had a TV cable that ran into the transmission. Its easily seen as its adjustable. The 4L60E is all electronic and does not have that cable into the trans. If I'm wrong on this someone will tell me!

I just looked at my thorttle body. I only have 2 cables hooked up to it. One for accelerator, and the other is for cruise control.....unless its on the other side, then I dont have it, or didnt see it.........
