Default 1990 Jimmy Fuel Guage

I bought a 1990 GMC Jimmy with 144,000 miles. I filled it up today. When I filled it up the guage went all the way apst the full mark opproximately a 1/4 tank. So when the needle shows that h ave a 1/4 tank left I will be out of gas. I was wondering if there is someway to adjust the needle.

Thanks in advanced

The gas gauge in my 1988 K5 also goes past the "full" mark. That is normal behavior, unless it goes WAY past the last dot on the gas gauge. How far past the "full" dot the gauge go?

Mine works great as long as your above an half a tank once you pass a half a tank tho it will start jumping around from half to empty constanly at hills and turns I guesss what im saying is you never know once you pass half a tank thank god for that low fuel light. haha. But I only get to see it full once a week and it seems to sit about an 1/8 of tank over the full mark.

This is too true! All my friends laugh when they watch my gas guage go from half a tank at takeoff to when i stop at the next light it drops to like 1/4 then slowy goes back up they all own newer vehicles and dont understand!!
