It's bolted in... Remove the bolts that hold it in, disconnect the electrical connection, and remove it.

Well, I don't want to do this for nothing... How sure are you that it is the motor? I had my dad look at it and he said that the motor will spin but it won't catch on the cable, so he thinks that it is worn out. What is your input on this?

What do you guys think of that picture? Everything looks good, (ignore the fact the cable is disconnected)

I've read about using a drill to get the window up and down. I would like to try this out. How would I do it and what drill bit will I need to do this?

the regulator cable is hooked up to the regulator.. and the other end would normally go on your lift motor but in this case your going to put the regulator cable... the metal part not the jacket into the chuck of the drill.. and tighten it down.. no drill bits required.. but i would make sure you start the drill slowly at first.. to make sure your going the right way or not..

hope this helps

So... I just replaced the rear window motor and it will go down now but it will not go back up, it won't even try to spin the cable the other way to put up the window. I have read about this problem, the "Rear Window Safety Switch". How do I get at the switch and see if it's the culprit, or does anyone else have suggestions on what could be wrong?

normally if the rear window safety switch is malfunctioning it wont allow the window to go down.. but i have been wrong before.. the latch on the left side has to be removed from the tailgate.. its 4 phillips head screws and it wont pull out much until you unhook the latch rod.. from the inside handle.. once you get it out you will notice a block on the inside of the latch.. and it has 2 wires on it.. i have heard alot of people will just jump the 1 wire to the other.. to bypass this safety.. hope this helps

Not to be a dick, but you are wrong. That safety switch prevents the window from being raised when the tailgate is down. Mine is broken. I removed the connection from the switch but the wires are inside of a small plastic covering and I can't get the wires out of the plastic covering. I also broke one of the prongs of the safety switch (not the connection) but I don't think that matters at this point because the switch was malfunctioning even before that. So my questions are: How do I remove the wires out of the plastic covering and; once I get the wires out, how do I make them stay together without jumping them together myself?

Thanks ck1500

the wires inside of the plastic covering is not a normal repairable thing. normally if they go bad internally you have to get a new one. and there damn expesive!!! i have yet to tear mine apart, so i am not much help on the internals on that switch, sorry. you might be able to get the plastic off by drilling the rivots outs but i am not 100% sure on the internals. most people jump it out with a piece of wire. to make sure thats the culprit, and i have heard people.. " not me" that have left it jumped out, seeing the replacement switch is normally sold with the latch. and your not being a dick, i actually screwed up when i typed my original saying it wouldnt go down.. its all good... im human i would try to jump the wires out.. with a piece of wire first to make sure that it functions at that point.. then make the decision if your wanting to buy the replacement, or wire the 2 wires together that go to the safety switch, which if your going that route, you just have to remember not to hit the button while the tailgate is down. otherwise you will more then likely lose the glass also. if you choose to jump out the safety switch i would make sure to solder the connections. and heat shrink tube them just to make sure.. and LMC sells the latch with the safety switch included for like 180 bucks ouchies!! heres the link for it, should be part number 43 on that page or 30-1542

sorry im not more help

Thanks for all the help CK1500 and swartlkk, I FINALLY got the window working correctly today. I jumped the wires that are supposed to go the safety switch and the window goes up and down now. I wrapped the wires and my jumper wire in electrical tape so it is snug.

hey guys quick question... is the shaft inside the blue cable supposed to spin freely when it is disconnected or does the whole blue cable rotate?

clarification... 91 Full size ... I am having rear window problems, I disconnected the blue cable from the motor and regulator. The motor spins fine with out the cables resistance. I was examining the blue cable and found the metal shaft doesn't spin freely inside the blue protective covering... Is it supposed to? I tried forcing some WD40 down the protective covering but that didn't help at all.
