87 K5 all headlights out

yesterday all of my headlights stopped working, but all other lights on the switch work. Just wondering if anyone knew of a common problem that could have caused this.

Fuse..?

abig84 01-31-2010 09:40 PM

someone stole your headlights!

if its not the fuse. you can check the power going out of the headlight switch. forgot what color it is. its obviously getting power if the tail lights work.

also kinda a stupid thing to try. try your brights switch. had one that was bad before and when you put the brights on you just lost all your headlights

do you have 4 headlights or 2?

NJE_WDE 01-31-2010 11:28 PM

i have 4, and i think it is the brights switch, is that hard to replace

have to take the steering wheel off and work your way down to it. shouldn't be to hard to do. i've changed them in other cars before and they had air bag junk to mess with so im sure its gonna be pretty simple. Just go by the book should be pretty self explainatory.

I think your thinking of the lever. The actual switch is on the bottom of the steering column and is controlled by a bar from the lever. Ive only replaced one and the column was out so not really sure how hard it is to get at. But it should be on the driverside. I think its right next to the ignition switch. If you can get at it and have a test light shouldnt be hard to figure out if its bad
