Well yesterday I was pulling out of my school parking lot when i heard a big bang and grinding..I pulled over looked under the truck and saw Gear oil pouring out the rear...There was A penny aize hole in it..So now i am hunting for a new 1/2 ton rear..Well does anyone know what the cost would be for one at a junkyard..and does the rear have to be the same exact rear as the one that was on the truck??[/align]

 

I got one with 40,000 for $300. If it's 4WD, yes you need one with the same gear ratio. Can't have the front and rear wheels turning at different speeds.

When I blew out the one in my 89 K-5 I had a Loc-Rite Autolocker installed. New part and install was about $290.00 2 years ago. I love the autolocker.
