Default Factory option??

Just purchased a 1979 K5 2wd Georgia peach. It has a light inside that resembles a small spot light. It looks factory but I’ve never seen it before. Just curious if it was a factory option or aftermarket accessory. Thanks for your help!

It sure fits nicely into the spot where the factory dome light goes, but it doesn't look "factory" and I've never seen one before. Very interesting. Sorry I can't answer your question.

GM has done a lot of weird factory stuff over the years so I would not be surprised if it were. That being said, I have no idea.

Almost looks like something from a military Blazer.

The M1009s weren't built until 1984 and his is a '79. Gotta admit, now I'm going to be curious about this all night at work.

Tom A you might be on to something with the military idea. The guy was a Delta mechanic so I assume he has a military background. After looking closer, the screws are tamper resistant tri-wing. So that would scream airline and/or military.

Now that you mention it, it totally looks like something that might come from an airplane cockpit, too. You may never know where it came from, but I think we can all agree, it's probably not original.
