Default gettin the k5 balzer ready for summer!

just bought a 1985 k5 blazer 9 inch lift m/t 33's for now.i live about 2.5 hrs from ocean city,md and i go at least 3 times a summer.i have took my busa everytime so far.but think if i can get this k5 reliable enough it would be a blast to remove the rear cab cover and cruise the strip.ok so i got a few questions.truck has 305 with 350 heads small cam headers and flowmasters as well as4 barrel, havent been able to see manifold to see if its stock.tranny shifts smooth now, motor does not smoke at all.i want to look into gettin a trans cooler, and fixing the temp gauge. i already have oil pressure gauge.i was thinkin of a rebuild kit.i dnt really want to bore the block unless the walls are tore up bad.truck says 350.000 miles so im sure the motor has been rebuilt or replaced.how hard is it to rebuild one of these small blocks?and will it be reliable enough to try the drive?and i removed all bolts in the rear cab cover and couldnt get it to budge...i think it was just the seals around the cab that held it so tight.maybe some crowbar tactics will help next time?thanks

nice k5 as far as the top did you take the bolts out across the roof line to?now the small blocks r very good engines.so i would just do full tune up change all the fluides.and you should be good to go.

Did you remove the two bolts in the far back, they are on the underside of the railing. If your thinking of rebuilding your engine there is a book "How to rebuild your small block Chevy" that would give you detailed info. Also if you shop around you could get a decent price on a 350 crate motor that will fit.

You can get a transmission cooler at you local parts store. The one I picked up at Checker had everything you need to install.
