how to wire up a cooling fan with toogle switch?? can i use speaker wire?14 gauge?

guys, i have a 16' cooling fan. i want to use a toogle switch to turn it on and off. how do i do it??? can i use 14 gauge speaker wire to do it?? the wires are together then. instead of single wires every where's. i wired it like this charger to swtch then switch fan cables got hot but switched on off. i get confused. can u help me out???? thanks bubba

well, what is the cooling fan from? does it normally run on 12v or 120?

I would use something thicker than 14 guage I would use something more like 8 or 10 guage to wire it up!!

Depends on the amps and voltage really, if it's a fan from another vehicle, you'd be alright with 10 gauge or bigger wire. I had to add an altenator and use wire almost the size of battery cables on mine, because I have 2 30-amp fans, so make sure it's not gonna rob too much power!
