I need fuel pressure testing help :-)
First time posting here. I'm not sur:pe I'm doing it in the right place.
|
What is it that you need help with? As soon as I know that I can move this to the correct place for you:)
|
I have an 87 k-5 blazer. I went to g:icon_idea1:o for wheeling the other day. I let her warm up, them out her in hear and she died :-( I can not get her going. If I prime her she Ttys to fire so I know it has spark. I'm thinking it is a fuel problem. Weller do I find the test valve to test the fuel pressure? And another advice is great!
|
87... Is it throttle body injected? (has the electric "carb" with 2 injectors) or is it oldschool carberated?
|
Throttle body.
|
all you can do is,buy a adapter for the throttle body off ebay etc. (search tbi fuel pressure adapter). Then go to autozone etc and "loan" a fuel pressure tester. Its free but you have to leave the retail deposit which is refundable when you bring it back.
it has to be between 10-13 psi. |
Is that the best first step. Or is there something I can test or do now while I wait for the part.

I moved your thread to this section so you should be able to get some more help. Like Chris said start with the pressure test. Its the absolute best place to start in any "fuel issue" suspected diagnosis:) |
Simple question, do you have fuel in the tank? You wouldn't be the first to solve the problem with $5 of fuel in a red can, me included :)
What do you mean "prime"? You mean when you turn the key the pump will whir for a few seconds? When you say you know there is spark is that because as it cranks it 'almost' fires up? |
Fuel in tank about three gallons.
I don't hear the pump at all when I turn the key on. Pretty sure it has spark cause if I put gas in the intake it Trys to start |
