my damn hood won't sit flat

my old hood had a big bend in the middle, so i put this new hood on, and now i am having the same problem with this new hood, minus the taco bend in the middle. it just won't sit flush with the fenders. when i took the old hood off, the hood brackets were super wobbly. when i put the new hood on, the hood holds the brackets more straight, and it just won't sit flush.

it's a 78 blazer. here's some pics

any suggestions for fixes?

i've seen a lot of hoods like this

Its your hinges. I would remove them, pop out the spring, then clean them up really well and lubricate all joints. Get it moving nice and smooth. If you have some wobbling joints, you can try to tighten them up by reforming the rivets.

The hinges are what caused the old hood to kink.

yeh the rivets that connect to the truck are barely hangin on how do you reform the rivets?

You can try hammering on the end of the rivet head that was originally deformed to fasten everything together.

If that doesn't work, I have seen some people find 1/2" OD, 3/8" ID flanged bushings and used a 3/8" x1" long bolt with a self locking nut to replace the worn bushings connecting the main arms of the hinge to the mount plate.

wow once again i was too late on the reply... Swartlkk has it nailed on the head!!!!!

i have used the bushing/bolt combo on other hoods... and as for re-forming the rivots it can be done.. but the ones i worked on they were non existing... so i had to use the bolt combo!
