RE: Repleacing the rear??
i just replaced mine in an 83 k5. its pretty simple, you will have to mess with the brake lines and bleed them after word, plus if you are not sure what size gears are in it, you will have to match your front and rear.

i already know my ratios im jus curious on how hard it is removing the whole rear and replacing it with a different one..it seems to look quite easy but with me easy fixs become long pains

RE: Repleacing the rear??
One way to not deal with the brakes is to take the axles out, then unbolt the backing plates, and tie them up. Remove u-bolts, driveshaft, shocks, old rearend, install new rearend, tighten u-bolts, shocks, u-joints,reinstall backing plates, axles, rear cover, fill with new fluid. No need to remove brake lines, parking brake cables, etc. Makes for a very clean transfer. I have done numerous rearends like this and I personally feel this is the better way to do it. Since usually the used rearends have worse brakes on them, and I really would not trust junk yard wheel cyclinders. Also this makes for a great time to replace the axle seals, so you have a fresh seal on things. Korey
