Default Stainless Steel Brake Lines

I want to increase the performance of my breaks and reduce the pedal movement. I recently had a brake service and the pedal movement was a little better but not like a new vehicle. Will installing braided stainless steel brake lines improve the response of the brakes by reducing pedal movement?
It seems like an easy thing to change and if the results are there than I'm tempted to do it. Anyone have experience with this?

Stainless lines are most noticable under hard braking. (Think panic stops) Which is why they're good for racing applications. For street use on an suv, you may notice a little difference, but it probably won't be dramatic. The best thing you can do to stop "mushy pedal", is flush out all the old brake fluid and replace with a good dot 4 synthetic. Well, that's what I use, but any new fluid will feel 10 times better than old stuff.

If your rubber lines are aging and flexing more, even new lines can show an improvement in pedal feel. Stainless lines may be an extra expense that just might not be worth it.

As z28jeff already stated, I would also like to recommend you flush the old brake fluid out of the system for some new stuff.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll try flushing the lines first and then evaluate.
