can't get the glass down on my tailgate. crank doesn't work. anyway around this? anyone know how to take it apart? got and 89 fullsize?

All my tailgates are power. You should be able to remove the access panel and then see the internal components. Got a digital camera?

Your panel should look like this, remove it and have a look inside. If you can't see what it needs try and take some pics of the inside mechanisms.


We'll work on the tailgate in this thread and the blower motor and resister in the other

hey, blower motor works now, had to replace the relay and re wire a few things, thanks for that. i've got the panel off and can see everything inside my tailgate. everything looks ok but the crank on the outside turns with no resistance so i don't know where to go from here. any ideas????

 

Can you see a couple of bolts holding the handle on? Can you take apic of what you can see, I don't have any info available.

They're pretty good pics, but I still can't see what I want to see.
I'm thinking that you might be able to see 2 bolts holding the crank handle on to the tailgate. If you can, then I would suggest taking off the handle and checking to see if the gear is worn out and see if you can find a replacement....you're almost there...
