Default Towing

Real quick question. I have a 94 Blazer with 350. My question is, would it be safe to tow an Impreza about 450 miles? Car weighs around 3000. Car trailer will be a rental so not positive on that weight. I know max tow capacity is 6500. This will probably be the only tow so not looking for upgrades.

Shouldn't be a problem. Best not to use overdrive.

Didn't think so. Trying to find any other option, but moving and have 3 vehicles. Due to this corona quarantine thing I am trapped as soon as I get to my new house. So me and the wife doing a turn and burn to grab the third car isn't an option.

Yeah you should be fine. It's not like you're doing this daily, it's a one-time situation. Just keep the OD off, or drop it down into 3rd if that's not an option, and that'll keep you in the power range better. I have to keep my 04 in 3rd when I'm towing my 7x12 trailer loaded with the 2 ATV's. Granted it doesn't help having oversized tires and stock gearing...

Just keep a good gap between you and any vehicle in front of you so that you have plenty of room to slow down. As mentioned before, braking is very important, especially when the trailer does not have brakes itself. Brake smooth, slow, and early!

Choose flattest route, make sure torque converter clutch locks up as much as possible.
Brakes should always be good anyways! You're not going to drive with bad brakes - are you?

Towing kills our transmissions because of the heat when run with the torque converter clutch open. If it has the heat exchanger option (right side of radiator two pipes, one in, one out should be the transmission oil cooler) the risk is less.
As previous advice, may use 3rd gear to have TCC lock up instead of OD where the TCC opens and closes a lot.

Turns out it doesn't matter, something about not wide enough wheel base so can't rent a car trailer anyway.

That doesnt make sense...

edit: how big of a difference is the stance between the 1st gen and the 2nd gen? I rented one with my 99 no problem...

When I had my Jeep, U-Haul wouldn't rent me trailers unless the hard top was on it. Their rules don't have to make sense, lol.
