Default Trasnfer case removal

Can anyone tell me how hard is it to remove a transfer case (NP 208) and replace it. I want to do the work myself and want to know exactly what I will be getting in too. I will take any help I can get and the more details the better. Thanks

Respectfully Steven

as far as i know, just remove the driveshaft, any sensors on the case, the case cover,4 bolts on the back of the trans once you have the cover off,and it slides off the shaft.

Thats sound like something I can do, Thanks brother, one more question you probably know, but do I need to drain my transmission (700R4) fluid out or not?

No need to drain trans. A little might fall out but thats about it. Its pretty roomy under there so not to bad. Drain the transfercase though

Default 5W-40 synthetic motor oil in T-case???????????

Well I dropped my old T-case out and installed the new one. Not hard at all. Now for my next question. The place where I bought my TC from told me to use 5W-30 synethic motor oil. (well its written on a tag thats was attached to where you pour in the fluid. Has anyone ever heard of using motor oil in a transfer case. I haven't poured anything into it yet, and I couldn't call the place where I bought it because they were close. So hopefully someone can help answer this for me. Thanks

Respectfully

uhhhhhhh i wouldnt....

It calls for some dexron atf fluid...its just as cheap as motor oil....id do that before i use motor oil..

Heck walmart sells it in there brand for less then 3 bucks a quart. its good enough for the tcase.
