Hi all I’m checking out this 79 and I’m not sure I should get it because of this undercarriage. What are your thoughts?

otherwise it has a low mile big block swap and a lift. Body looks good and the interior is trashed but I want to redo the interior.

 

I don't see any flaking rust or "bulging" rust, except for maybe on the floorboard. Hard to tell in the pictures, though the frame sure looks like surface rust and it looks to be solid. Just going from the pictures, I'd say go for it. Though, you might want to get underneath and do a little poking around with a scribe or screwdriver if the owner has no problem with you doing so. Might even be able to get them down on the price if you do find something that needs to be repaired.

 

Check for frame cracking at the steering box mount and rear upper shock mounts. The rust doesn't appear to be a serious issue, but I would definitely put something on it to keep it from getting worse.

 

Here in NH we would say "What rust?", and it would be advertised on CL as rust free.
