100 Things I have learned from my Blazer
Another forum I'm on has one of these...I'm curious what we can come up with. :icon_playing:
There are tons of things that we know now, that we didn't know before. Things that had we never purchased our Blazers, we may have never learned. Everything from basic to advanced mechanic skills, to the inner workings of the 4x4 community, or just the way of the world in general. Things I Learned from my Blazer: 1. Oil cooler lines are prone to leakage. 2. Never trust that the guy at the quick lube place has done his job correctly or at all. 3. An alignment is absolutely necessary after tampering with the torsion bars. 4. An old pipe is perfect for adding leverage while wrenching a stubborn nut. 5. Never curl your thumbs around the steering wheel while off-road. 6. if you lose something and the truck still runs, or runs better without it, you didn't need it. 7. You always remember the part you need after the parts store has closed. 8. A BFH is one of the greatest tools ever invented. 9. Wal-mart does not have anything that you really need for your truck. 10. Spotters are very important. 11. Too many spotters is a bad thing. 12. It is not a good idea to use a chain or steel hooks to "un-stuck" someone. 13. Custom pin-stripes and metal fabrication can be done from inside the vehicle. 14. You can never explain to your non-internet buddies how you meet guys online without them making fun of you. 15. No, it's not a hunting vehicle. 16. The more you have to change out the same part, the faster you get at changing out that part. 17. After-market support isn't necessary...but it would be helpful. 18. Anti-Seize is your friend. 19. Always have tools in your truck. 20. Rear sway bars are useless. 21. Ask first, replace second...repeat. 22. Salvage yards do not save skid plates. 23. If you tell most people that you go "offroading" they instantly think less of you, when you try to explain, they lose interest. 24. Buying your wife a (matching) rig makes things MUCH easier. So who's got #25?? |
25. When you think it will break down it won't
26. When you don't think it will break down it does 27. will perform better offroad than most stock Jeeps however the Jeep that got stuck gets more respect than the Blazer that actually makes it through |
28. Tires are expensive
29. Rust is a pain to fix 30. touch up paint does not match 31. soldering irons can burn ALOT 32. 2Dr Blazers have a lot of door panel squeaks and rattles 33. Antifreeze is Flammable! 34. Tranny fluid gets everywhere 35. Loose hood bolts can be very noisy 36. ZR2's are Badass 37.The rear shock towers are welded to the frame 38. Always carry a chain 39. Never let your friends drive your truck 30. Napa sells good parts 41. Never shop at autozone 42. Limited slip diffs are very fun 43. Always park away from other cars 44. A stock blazer can beat a stock explorer 45. Armor all is amazing stuff 46. POR-15 is the best rust-proofing you can buy 47. Their are many Blazer hater out there 48. PB Blaster Works wonders 49. Oil leaks are a pain 50. Skid plates DO work 51. Always check the autoparts store clearance rack 52. DEX-COOL SUCKS!!!!! |
53. Everything in the front suspension and steering WILL need to be replaced.
54. Never push the 4x4 button while your tires are spinning. 55. The back glass will squeak. |
Haha...we might just have to rename it "Things I have learned from my Blazer". We might reach 100 on day 1 lol.

74. The oil filter access door is definitely not big enough.
75. If you think you have fixed one rattle you will instantly hear another. 76. If you dont think your seats have a recline lever, it does, its just broken off 77. All Blazers should have had a floor shift transfer case. |
Oh yes to #75.
78. Intake gaskets are gonna fail. 79. Drivers side mid spark plug sucks to change. 80. If # 78 happens while on the highway, you will need a new engine. |

|
81. Whatever part you want to change requires you to remove 15 other parts that touch it.
|

BTW, if you think 31's kill MPG's on our blazers, try putting them on a '95 4Runner....I got a solid 15 on the highway haha. |
88. Stock Speakers blow then stop working all together so easily.
89. Wish it could have came with 3.73s then people would stop thinking the motor is gutless. 90. 18 gallons of fuel seems to just disapear. |
91. If you own a Blazer, you have to join in on Blazer Forum.
92. If you join in on Blazer Forum, Your wife complains that you pay more attention to the forum than you do to her. (Or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention to her, I was replying to this thread.):icon_shrug: 93. When you say, "This is the last accessary I'm going to buy for my Blazer", you immediately find something else that you just can't live without. |
94. never finished with fixing it. get one thing fixed another tears up.

Alright # 67 and 69 are so true it's sad. I've had my truck for over 2 years and still trying to fix the stereo completly.

|
In both my dads 92 s10 and my 92 s10 blazer,

98-bigger speakers to drown out rear hatch rattle. |

Amen to #98 |
99 1/2. Seat back handles break if you pull them with more than one finger.
|
You guys seem to complain about a lot of stuff I don't have problems with, my seat handles are not broken, my back window doesn't squeak, nothing rattles at all, the stereo is fine, etc. I have never had to do work on it and I've had it about a year and a half. Am I just lucky?

If you have ONE single front end piece that is worn out... the rest will be bad shortly. Save yourself a headache & replace EVERYTHING at once while its completely torn down the first time. |
Their is never just one thing that breaks on a Blazer at a time. Issues come in couples, sometimes more!
|
100. As long as you maintain Blazers properly and change fluids BEFORE they need to be changed, they are great, reliable trucks that will do everything you need them to do and alot more. Once you drive a Blazer or Jimmy, you would hate driving anything else.
|
Wow, 93 is so freaking true.

my radio doesn't stick out? try crutchfield.
https://blazerforum.com/forum/pictur...pictureid=6644 i've never had an issue with the aftermarket deck brackets, they've always held super tight-even with the most extreme off-roading (read airborne) adventures i've had. i guess this would be #101(?).............fuel economy is a foreign dirty word to a Blazer. :) |
