Default 2000 Chevy Blazer ZR2 Questions

So I ran across what I believe to be a sweet deal on a 2000 Chevy Blazer ZR2 with 4x4. The guy says it's stuck in 4x4 low but wont go over a certain speed. Could this be because it's stuck in Low? Does the computer not let you go over a certain speed? He thinks the trans blew up but it still runs and drives. Could it just be the switch that needs to be replaced or a fuze?

The transfer case is likely toast. Is it a 3 button or 4 button? I was having trouble getting mine to shift, then one day it decided to go into 4 lo and wouldn't come out again. I limped it to the nearest garage and they replaced the tcase with a used one and haven't had a problem since. Mine is the autotrac 4 button.

It won't go over a certain speed because the transmission will only shift to 2nd, I believe, when it's in 4 lo.

Its probably a bad encoder motor not shifting. I believe if you put it in neutral you can go under the truck and grab the linkage and put it in 2wd manually.

Sorry, yeah I went to worst possible scenerio for whatever reason. lol Yeah, trying to see if you could shift it by hand would be a good trouble shooting start.

Mine wouldn't even shift by hand, something was messed up inside the tcase. They said there was water and the wrong oil in it which may have been part of the cause. The water part may have been me, but the wrong oil was the previous owners mistake, unfortunately it cost me the money.
