Default 2002 Zr2 has no power. No codes. Transmission?

Hey there,

just bought a 2002 ZR2 on the cheap. Well no wonder is was so cheap. Can't get the thing to go over 30kms. Can slam the pedal down and it doesn't move. RPM can't get over 2000. Im really hoping its not the trans. Put the scanner to it and didn't get and codes.

Also the dash cluster acts up. Will say one second there is a half a tank then it will crap out and show its empty.

Any ideas on these problems.

Many thanks.

clogged cat?

ETA: cluster could be many things from a bad +/- connection or it could be the fill sensor needs replaced.

This may not be your problem, but my old blazer wouldn't switch gears. I thought I had a tranny problem. A guy I know said to change the transmission oil and filter. I did that and everything worked perfectly. You may want to look into the transmission oil and filter if that's never been changed. Maybe somebody else can tell you better if that will help you or not.

And this was a 96 s-10 Blazer.

I would look at the cat first as the problem of no power.

As for the gas gage, very common problem on these vehicles. The problem is the float sensor in the tank which is part of the fuel pump assembly. You can either keep on eye on mileage per tank and fill up before you need to or replace/repair the sensor.

It was just a cat on this blazer. Swapped the fuel pump out and my gauges worked. SOLD this one and bought another project. Funny getting the same problems on this one.
