Default 2005 ZR2 on 32s — What Do I Actually Need to Do?

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a super clean 2005 Blazer ZR2 LS — only 85,000 km on it, bone stock, and it still had the original tires from ‘05 (cracked to hell lol). Loving it so far and planning to use it for weekend overlanding and some light trails around BC.

I just ordered a set of Falken Wildpeak AT4W in 32x11.5R15, and now I’m trying to figure out exactly what I need to do to make them fit without going full hack-and-slash. I’m sticking with the stock ZR2 wheels for now.

I’ve seen mixed info all over — some say crank the torsion bars and maybe trim a bit, others say it’s a nightmare without a lift. Not looking to go too crazy just yet — maybe shocks or a mild lift down the road, but I want to daily this thing too.

Anyone running 32s on a ZR2? What did you have to do to make them fit cleanly? Trim? Bump stops? Backspacing issues with stock rims?

Any advice from people who’ve actually done it would be super appreciated. Thanks!

2 inch body lift might get you there. I have done that on mine, but also longer shackles as my rear end was already sagging plus a little bit of a torsion bar crank up front. I did all this to fit 33's, which I did. I also did the trimming on wheel wells up front. The 33's fit just fine except for full compression so I went to 32's. The 32's don't rub at all and I have more than enough room in the wheel wells that I don't think I need the longer shackles and tbar tweak.

I don't know if anyone still makes a 2 inch lift for these vehicles, though. I went with BDS when I did mine. Took pretty much the entire day with to others helping me. If you do the body lift, see if you can download the BDS instructions as it is the best. Just take your time and follow instructions.

you think I could get away without the 2 inch body lift and just do some trimming??

I doubt if you could, especially if plan to do any off roading. The body lift is fairly easy, just takes time to do it right. You can give it a shot, though, with just the tbar tweak and 4" shackles. Cheaper and easier than a body lift. Throw in some trimming and you might be able to make it.
