There is anything too mystical about this. Straight highway driving with no stops, filling up right before getting up to speed, and then filling up again directly off the highway such as you must have done; many vehicles can do this, blazers included. Its the getting up to speed after stopping that kills mileage in these trucks.

On a trip we took with my wife's 3.5L Malibu we got ~46mpg through hand calculation. We filled up in NY just before jumping on the NYS Thruway (90). Saw cheap fuel after driving ~300 miles (can't remember the numbers exactly) and filled up again. But that car routinely gets 32-34mpg on trips anyway which I find phenomenal for how snappy the car is.

I would believe it, seeing how most corvettes sneak out 30mpg.... and they have much higher fuel consumption? (unsure but they have more displacement)

I get 21mpg when I drive like a grandma, but as of lately its in the 19's and 18's because of my commuter/city driving back and forth from school..... When it was 80% highway I was getting 20 easy....

But EPA gas mileage numbers arent based of this kinda driving is it?

I wasn't drafting, infact, people were drafting me :-P

I'm just surprised, I take trips to Morgantown WV which is 250 miles away straight highway, I fill up and cruise at 75mph there too and I've only seen 21mpg, yet, stopping 4 times and going for toll booths and cruising at the same speed netted me 28 and 29 mpg this time.
