Default 4.3 camshaft swap

trying to get the torque bolts out holding in the camshaft. tried with an impact driver & a 3 lb hammer, but didn't work. think i need a heavier hammer. Any suggestions ? please keep the answers straight ! thank you.

2 stupid questions
# 1 - are you sure the impact driver is in the reverse position and not the tighten
# 2 - and why do you even need to get that carried away if it's the bolts
I'm thinking of a socket and ratchet is all I've ever needed

I'm just asking myself which "torque" bolts?

Camshaft gear bolts?

Probably you are talking about the TORX bolts of the cam retainer?
Mine came off with a normal ratchet and the correct size TORX bit.
Just tapped with a small hammer before loosening with a 1/4" ratchet.

An impact driver would be the next tool I'd use as well. (Sound advice of odat on the direction)

I went through this recently. Stripped one and drilled it.
the other two, I used the penetration spray. ( spray tap wait spray tap wait tap while removing)
waiting wasn’t fun, but beat drilling.
good luck
