Default 95 s10 4.3 coolant massive rear leak

Hey everyone, just joined today because i am at a loss with trying to figure out if my 95 s10 2wd 2dr 4.3 vortec, vin "w" with the cast intake and plastic cover that reads "vortec" in orange and black, second gen body style has rear freeze plugs or if its the lower intake leaking out of the rear. With the starter and flywheel cover off, (auto trans) i had a buddy blow into the radiator and it squirted out about half way up the block on the flywheel. I cant see in and just needed some input before i pulled tranny or engine, thanks.

I believe that the CPI engine block does have two freeze plugs off the back of the block.

yup, 99.9% sure they didn't delete those 'til the '96 engines. i know they're on my brother's '94 W-code, and since it's engine, it would stand to reason that they're in yours as well.

best bet is to get that trany out, then go @ it from behind. (get your mind outta the gutter)

Default pullin trans?

well thank you for the info and responding fast, I consider myself mechanically inclined but its not what i do for a living, So my question is what type of headache am i getting myself into by pullin the tranny on my 95 4.3 s10 blazer 2wd auto. advice? tips? all is greatly appreciated, looks like alot of tranny lines and sensors to pull and will the Y pipe need to be removed? crossmember looks like its going to come out too, sorry for the long post but this is the first time doing this on my own rig...lol and a blazer for that matter. Thanks

as for tips.....the cross member has to come out but the Y-pipe doesnt, it helps alot if its out but not necessary. compared to a 4x4, yours is a piece of cake! i wouldnt worry about pulling any of the sensors, just disconnect the connector, but be careful when droping the tranny as not to damage a connector or nick a wire..... if you have a bad memory i would recomed taking pictures to show how wire looms are routed and where the tranny cooler lines are routed. also dont forget to mark the location of the driveshaft in relation to the pinion yoke to cut down on the chances of vibrations after the job is complete. Good luck and have fun!
