98 chevy blazer
My 98 chevy blazer has been hard to start for a few months. It usually cranks fine but has a hard time firing up. When it does start it normally has a very rough idle and doesn't have much power. Today when it was having trouble starting it made a loud clunk, then wouldn't crank and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. I checked the lights and they worked so I don't think it's the battery. after a little while it finally started to crank and eventually started. I have replaced the fuel pump, plugs and wires, distributor, and throttle position censor. It has the v6 vortex engine with only 135,000 miles on it. It also had a rebuilt title when I bought it and nobody knew why it had been rebuilt. Can anyone give me some advice on what could possibly be the issue. Thanks.
Check battery terminals, last time i had anything of that nature it was a poor cable connection, remove cables (negative first, positive last) with an 8mm wrench and do not ground the wrench on anything as you're removing either cable. check and make sure both the face and studs of the cables and the terminal threads/face on the battery are clean and free of green or white corrosion, reconnect, tighten slowly, dont overtorque.
