Anyone ever "jury rig" or make homemade fix's?

I rigged up the Window opening mechanism in the back, then i went to the junk yard and got the little plastic parts to fix it right for when it breaks again.

two come to mind off the top of my head... My dad owns a bakery and his oven uses a belt to turn 5 racks in the oven, the belt snapped at 3am and he has stuff in the oven that needs to come out and more that needs to bake.... out comes the rope and duct tape..... as the last thing gets pulled out(at 7:30am, he continue to use it of course) my home-made belt snapped, but stores were open to buy a new one by then, it did what it neeed to do
Another time on my rail I snapped my throttle cable... out came the zap straps(or cable ties) and I zap strapped my throttle cable back onto the carb... 2 years later I replaced the throttle cable...
another one actually on my old F250, the throttle stuck wide open, so I had a rope coming in from under the hood through the passenger window so whenever my throttle stuck I had to pull the rope
speaking of ropes I also had a rope tied to my brake peddle on my buggy to pull it back up because sometimes It would get stuck, 3 or 4 years before I actually replaced the pedal assembly...
I could go on for days....

Sadly Today my top radiator hose blew a quarter size hole. I used a whole roll of duct tape, and a roll of black electrical tape and it lasted a whole 4 miles but it got me to the gas station! $13.00 later and a phone call and it was fixed.

My shifter broke off the collum part and its held in place with duct tape and quicksteel

simple things like a tin can and hose clamps to patch a hole in an exhaust pipe. There's my liscense plate heat shield for the cai. I try and fix things correctly, wether it's used or new parts. Any backyard engineering I do is usually until payday.

I've used a budweiser can, bailing wire along with "muffler bandage" to seal up a hole in my exhaust pipe between cat and muffler. Held for about three months. The car was a $500 beater 1974 pinto wagon.

Who doesn't jury rig lol? My passenger side headlight adusters were broken a while back, so i took two wooden door shims and slid them behind it to aim the light lol. Used the leftover wood to hold the plastic pocket under my stereo in haha!

i usually do that to electrical stuff

What the crap is jury rig? Is that when you ask 12 of your peers to fix something for you?
