Default Best mileage ever

Hi all!

I'm back from my Eastern Washington jaunt. I had a great time and the Jimmy did beautifully. I recorded my two best fuel economy numbers on the trip. Going over Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 and Blewett Pass on US 97 I got 20.7. Better yet, on the way home, going over Chinook Pass, I got 21.5! I never expected to get such numbers going over the mountains.

I'll be going back to Yakima for a gig later in July. I'm curious if I can beat those numbers.

Thats very impressive, given the terrain! I am familiar with all those highways as I used to live in Granite Falls. I found years ago when I lived in Vail,CO that my anemic 350 in an 84 GMC C-2500 actually delivered better economy above 3000rpm!Anyway,I never get better than about 16 or so when I take my Jimmy into mountainous areas;but routinely obtain 22-24 in my county(FLAT) and have never taken this unit to high elevation(4000+) either. You are doing everything right-seems to me!

I was blown away by my mileage. I expected to do very well over Snoqualmie but Chinook is such a slow road I never thought I'd get good mileage there. I suspect that driving west over the pass helped. It's pretty quick heading down the west side of the pass.

I'm back in Yakima for another gig and did the trip east over Chinook. I got 22.7mpg over the pass. I'm really liking this.

i was able to get some pretty good numbers a few months ago. its all in how you drive them. and if you have 3.73's like me, stock tires of course, it doesnt take much to keep the truck going on the flats. i just barely rest my foot on the throttle and the computer stays about 24-25. averages about 22-23 like you are getting. keep it up buddy!

when i took my truck 3 years ago to NC (from NJ) i was amazed at the numbers. i got 27mpg. and no i am sober haha. me and my buddy switched off paying for gas at every half tank. i reset the trip odometer and got 250 miles to the half tank. and when i got gas at the half it took a little under 9 gallons. given it was all highway but still i was impressed

I've got 3.42 gears in the Jimmy. I was really surprised that I did so well over Chinook Pass because I was climbing from about 400' up to 4100' and then back down to 1100'. I came home earlier today and went over Manastash Ridge and then Snoqualmie Pass and only got 17.9mpg. Then again, I may or may not have been going 80mph on parts of the trip between Yakima and Ellensburg.

Tuesday I'm leaving for a gig outside Missoula, Montana. I'll be tracking mileage on that trip as well.
