Default blazer ran out of gas

I got a 97 blazer. ran it out of gas. I was comming off the highway exit and it bogs so I coast about a mile and just about pull right up to the pump.lol But anyway I fill it up and its a hards start but runs fine for about 20 mile than it dies. Its not getting any gas at all. Any sugestions on how I can get it to fire up?

You might have fried the pump, the gas in the tank is what keeps it cool. Or your strainer might have fallen off in the tank and you sucked up some crap into the fuel filter and clogged it.

Can you hear the pump running when you turn the key on? It should run for 2 seconds when you turn the key on.

running it dry was defiantly not friendly to the pump, as stated the fuel in the tank is the pumps cooling agent. I'm sure you clogged the filter up as well sucking everything out of the tank, you can try just replacing that and crossing your fingers

I wouldnt do this .... Best to diagnose the system 1st .

Start by changing the filter ... It dont hurt to have a new one.

I'm pretty sure that what you suggested in your second sentence is the same thing my second sentence said, just a little different wording. Yet you said not to do it with your first (not to try to be smart about it)

OMG John you misread something AND contradicted yourself!
How do I remove Rep points?!?!?!?!

LMAO I'm kidding man.
Replace the fuel filter as they BOTH stated & try spraying a small shot or 2 of brake cleaner in the throttle body as someone cranks it over.
If it fires but doesn't run then you're not getting fuel to the engine.

My wording wasn't the greatest either, no harm no foul as far as I'm concerned. As long as someone gets the point across!

I changed out the fuel filter and kinda beated on the tank and that did the trick and I heard the pump kick on and a few turns and it kicked right over.
