Default Blazer as a work truck??

So I have a 2000 4dr Blazer that I bought recently after my last truck was totaled in an accident. I got the Blazer because I had an s 10 in the past and liked it, but now I needed something with rear seats for a baby car seat. I also need to use it as a work truck. In the winter months I work as a sub contractor and haul around a bunch of tools, the occasional 2x4, etc. the biggest thing is a few hardwood floor sanders which weigh a couple hundred pounds.
So my question is, does anyone else use their Blazer as a work truck? I did my first job with the sanders recently and am starting to second guess myself

The cargo area is pretty small. They're a little harder to find, but you'd probably be better off with a crew cab S10 pickup. You could put a camper shell on it if you want so your tools would be a little more secure.

Yeah I was originally looking for a 4dr s 10 but wasn't finding much luck in my area. Also this Blazer I bought only had 62k miles on it

I used a 2 door for work at the junk yard many years ago. Different field of work obviously...

It inevitably succumbed to junk yard gas though... spider injector didn't like it...

The contraption hanging off the front was a large magnet hanging from a wheelchair lift. Bolted it to the front bumper, wired it to a two way switch. When it was slow, I would lower it and drive around and collect screws and bolts lol

I use mine to haul my tools but that is all in boxes which can be stacked.
A possibility would be the addition of a small closed trailer. Would probably also make life with the sanders a lot easier to offload/load them.

I like the junkyard set up Blazenred
Yeah I think a 4x6 or 5x8 enclosed trailer is the route I will probably go. I already put a trans cooler on after ready other peoples threads on towing

That is a good set-up Blazen_Red. My Jimmy was my Father-in-Law's and he used it as a work truck before he gave it to me. He kept the rear seats folded down and had his tools in stackable bins, but when he ran out of room he bought a 5x8 enclosed trailer. It seem to work for him well for him until he could buy something bigger.

Being that it was used in the junk yard, I would have to use the tools on vehicles to both my left and right as I drove down the rows. Past setups in other vehicles, would just have the tools sitting behind the passenger side door. But that made using the tools more difficult when what I was trying to pull was on the driver's side... back and forth walk... Finally started putting them in the back like this, easy access to both sides.

Set up the Izusu Rodeo I got in after that in the same way. Brought the Blazer into a bay when the fuel pump went out... Backed up the work truck and popped the rear open, had access to all my tools

I am currently using my 96’ as work truck for my Drywallogist trade. I blew the motor in the Astro van and got rid of it (that was a mistake). Now I can’t seem to find a replacement.
I find the Blazer a bit awkward for tool removal due to interior height but it with do. I do own a small 6ft trailer but haven’t implemented it yet.

Do you haul drywall with it too? Every now and then I have to do a little drywall repair and need a sheet or two. I have wondered if the roof rack would work for drywall since it is curved slightly I wasn't sure if it would split
