Default Buying a parts vehicle

I got a line on a '96 Jimmy with a blown engine for $400 o.b.o and I'm just wondering if it's worth buying as a parts truck for my '99 or if it should just be fixed into a pure off roader? Does a lot change from a 96 to a 99? I'm pretty sure I remember reading that 98 was a transition year for somethings on these trucks, is that correct?

Some body parts will swap, some engine parts, and some interior parts will swap out.

The ecm and I think the injection system has minor differences.

$400 is a lot for a parts rig imho. I have 3 parts trucks (2 with good bodys) and didn't give over $100 for any of them.
